Distance-weighted displacement
Neighbours move in proportion to proximity, so the parting looks like a physical wake.
Gallery & Slider Templates · v1.0.0
Neighbouring tiles part to make way as an item expands.
Wake is a tight image grid where selecting a tile pushes its neighbours aside - they slide outward in proportion to their distance, clearing space for the expanded view, then flow back when you close it.
The displacement falls off with distance, which is what makes it read as physical rather than as a set of scripted moves.
Best for: Dense image grids where you want to open something without leaving the page.

No route change, no modal - the grid reorganises around the selection.
Dense enough that the parting motion has somewhere to travel.
Deploy immediately; source build optional.
It is comfortable to around eighty. Past that the displacement calculation per open starts to show on low-end devices.
Yes - the grid narrows and the parting still runs, though with fewer neighbours the effect is subtler.
